How to sell more prints from your client galleries

Your gallery does more than deliver photos — it can keep earning after the shoot. Practical ways to turn a delivery gallery into a store clients actually buy from.

Most client galleries make a sale of exactly zero prints. Not because clients don't want prints — because the gallery was built to deliver files and then be forgotten. A few deliberate choices turn that same gallery into a quiet, ongoing source of income. None of this requires being pushy; it requires making buying easy and obvious.

1. Turn the store on — and curate it

An empty or hidden store sells nothing. In LumiHQ you choose which products a client sees and set your own prices (validated to stay above the lab's cost, so you never sell at a loss). Don't show a catalogue of 50 sizes — offer a tight, confident selection: a couple of print sizes, one framed option, maybe a wall-art piece. Fewer, clearer choices convert better than an overwhelming grid.

2. Let favourites do the selling

When a client favourites photos, they're telling you exactly which images they're emotionally attached to — and those are the ones worth printing. Encourage favouriting as the first thing they do in the gallery. It makes the gallery feel interactive, and it surfaces the shortlist that a print order naturally comes from.

3. Show prints on a wall, at real size

The biggest barrier to buying wall art is that people can't picture it. LumiHQ's store previews a client's chosen photo in a room and at true-to-life scale, so an A2 print stops being an abstract size and becomes something they can imagine above the couch. Seeing it is what makes them want it.

4. Price with an anchor

A single price looks arbitrary; a range gives context. When a small print sits next to a framed piece and a large wall print, the middle option suddenly looks reasonable. Lead the store with the premium product — it makes everything beneath it feel like good value, and some clients will simply buy the best one.

5. Keep 100% of your margin

Every print sale runs through your own connected Stripe account, and LumiHQ takes 0% of it. Fulfilment happens automatically through your print lab, the client pays your price, and the money lands in your bank. Your only costs are the lab's and Stripe's standard processing — so the margin you set is the margin you keep.

6. Don't forget the digital buyers

Not every client wants a physical print — some just want the high-res files for their own use. Offering paid full-resolution downloads alongside prints captures that demand too, from the same gallery, with watermarked previews protecting your work until they buy.

Do these six things and the gallery you were sending anyway starts paying for itself. See how the print store works, or get started free and set one up on your next delivery.
