Export your numbers for your accountant
Get invoices, payments and print sales out as a file your bookkeeper can use.
Bookkeeping export on the Revenue & Analytics tab downloads your invoices as a spreadsheet — dates, amounts and GST where it applies — in one of three shapes: a plain spreadsheet, or a file ready to import into Xero or QuickBooks. It's designed to be handed to a bookkeeper or imported, not read on screen.
- Period: this or last BAS quarter, this or last financial year, all time, or your own dates.
- Dated by: when the payment was received (what a cash-basis BAS needs, and the default) or when the invoice was issued.
- Invoices: paid and part paid (the default, so deposits are in), paid in full only, or everything you've sent.
A sensible rhythm
- Quarterly before each BAS, matching your reporting period exactly.
- Annually at the end of the financial year, 1 July to 30 June.
Pick the period before you download, and tell your bookkeeper whether it's by payment or issue date. Periods follow your own timezone, so a payment made early on 1 July lands in the new financial year. Quotes are never included.
The export reflects what's recorded in Lumi HQ. Payments taken outside the platform — cash, a bank transfer you never marked off — won't appear unless you've recorded them here.
Choose Xero or QuickBooks if that's what your bookkeeper uses. On an invoice whose prices include GST, those two files carry the amounts before GST and let the accounting software add it — otherwise it would be counted twice. The plain spreadsheet keeps your prices exactly as you typed them, with GST in a column of its own.
