When your emails aren't arriving

Why client emails land in spam or vanish, and what actually fixes it.

Work through these in order — the answer is nearly always in the first two.

1. Check the outbox

The outbox tells you whether we sent it and what the receiving server said. Delivered means it reached their mail server and the problem is on their side (usually spam). Bounced means it was rejected — check the address for a typo, which is the most common cause by a distance.

2. Have them check spam

Gallery delivery emails contain a link and images, which is also what a lot of marketing email looks like. Ask the client to check junk and mark it not-spam — that teaches their provider for next time.

3. Corporate filters

Work addresses behind corporate filtering are the hardest case: the mail can be quarantined without ever reaching the recipient's junk folder. For commercial clients, ask for a personal address as a backup before you deliver.

Tip

For anything time-critical — a gallery about to expire, an invoice due — send the email and message the client. Email is not a delivery guarantee, and no configuration makes it one.

Still stuck

If the outbox shows delivered and the client genuinely can't find it in junk, tell us with the client's email address and roughly when it was sent — that's enough to trace the specific message.
