Let clients search a gallery by what's in the photos
Clients type “cake” or “first dance” and see those photos, across every folder.
With Photo search on, your client gets a search button in the gallery's top bar. They type a few words, like “cake”, “beach”, “dog” or “first dance”, and the gallery shows the matching photos from every folder, best match first. It matches by meaning, so “laughing” also finds photos described as smiling.
How photos become searchable
Each photo is described in words once, in the background, a few minutes after it's uploaded. Nothing is asked of you, and uploads aren't slowed down. The search button appears in the gallery as soon as the first photos are ready.
Galleries you uploaded before you had photo search aren't searchable yet. Open the gallery's Settings, find Photo search, and press Make … more searchable. The same button retries any photos that couldn't be read.
Good to know
- Search is on for new galleries. Switch it off per gallery if you'd rather a client browsed in your order.
- Search reads what's in a photo, not who. It never names or identifies anyone.
- Videos aren't searchable.
- Photo search is part of the Pro plan.
Try a few searches yourself before you send the gallery: a place, a moment and an object. It's a quick way to see what your client will find.
