Finding the photos you're in

How Find me works, and what happens to your selfie.

2 min read· Updated 8 October 2026

Some galleries have a Find me button at the top. Tap it, take a selfie or choose a photo of yourself, and the gallery shows the photos you appear in.

Getting a good match

  • Face the camera, in good light, without sunglasses or a hat shading your face.
  • Just you in the photo. If there's more than one face, the biggest one is used.
  • If nothing comes up, try another photo. You'll only see results when you're in at least two photos, so the gallery never shows you a stranger who happens to look like you.

What happens to your selfie

Your selfie is compared with the faces in that one gallery and then thrown away. It isn't saved. The faces in the gallery's photos were recognised so this could work; that data is held in Australia, used for nothing else, and deleted when the gallery ends. If you'd like it removed sooner, ask your photographer.

Note

Find me only appears in galleries where your photographer has switched it on. If you don't see the button, use the gallery as normal. Every photo is still there.
